You can sit there and read every book and listen to every doctors opinion... But the one thing that truly matters, as a mother, is how you want to care for your child... So I'm writing this as a reminder to myself and others... You know what's best for your son or daughter... No one else.. Wither its about feedings, schedules, naps, sleeping at night (in the crib, co-sleeping, family bed, bed sharing) ITS YOUR CHOICE!!!!!
I, myself, have been frustrated about our bed time routine... Lucas rarely takes the pacifier... And loves to nurse or at the very least to be rocked by mommy... Do I think this is me spoiling my son??? No.... Some people might but Lucas is a baby only one.... Babies love to suck to fall asleep and love motion.... Us, moms know what more than anymore... If independent sleeping works or worked for you're family that's fabulous.... I always thought I would be a mother that would do so.... but I'm not... I can't.... Lucas is only a baby once... and one day he will not wait to be held close by mommy anymore... I believe he knows what he needs more then I do...
Nevertheless, Did I think I was spoiling Lucas? Yes, because its the Western part of the worlds culture that babies are independent. But, this is not the way parents (and doctors) in other parts of the world at all... Theoretically, which one is indeed the taboo?
After all, what is baby independence to me? Well, Lucas loves to play on the floor all day long; as well as, fall back to sleep if he wakes up in the middle of the night and is not hungry.... So what more independent does a baby need to be?
